Kesineni Nani to Join BJP?

Ex Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani had a rich and reputed legacy in the Telugu Desam Party. He was given the elite position in the party and operated at free will during his time as the party MP not once but twice (2014 and 19).

But just before the 2024 election, he shockingly jumped into YSR Congress which eventually turned out to be fatal for his political career.

YCP didn’t just get humiliated in the election by winning less than 10% of the MLA and MP seats, but Nani himself had a horrendous result as he lost to his brother Kesineni Chinni(TDP).

After this fateful result, Nani announced that he is quitting politics for good and will confine himself to charitable and philanthropic activities. He announced this on June 10, 2024 and has been rightly staying low, ever since.

However, as is the case with many political stories, there’s a twist in this tale as well. Nani is reportedly eyeing a comeback in AP politics now, not with YCP or TDP, but with BJP.

Apparently, according to media reports, Nani had been selectively meeting with BJP leadership for a while now and discussing this proposal. He had even been in touch with Daggubati Purandeshwari on this matter, it seems.

Reportedly, this saga had been going on for the last few months, albeit secretively.

If things go as planned, Nani could be joining in Andhra Pradesh BJP sooner than later. In accordance with this, a video of Nani interacting with his supporters in Vijaywada is going viral.

In the video, we see him communicating to his cadres that it is true that he quit politics but he is not away from public service. He says he is always there for the public no matter what.

It can be noted that Nani, during his time with TDP had good ties with central BJP leaders as he was constant in touch with several union ministers and brought many grants to AP. So, he is obviously going to be in the good books of the saffron party.

But will Nani actually break his word about quitting politics and comeback to where it all started? More so considering that BJP is already in alliance with TDP in Andhra Pradesh, a party that Nani served all these years, but openly dissed during 2024 election? Only time will tell.
