Oops! No Attendance For Jagan’s 10 Min Assembly Visit?

After having skipped the Andhra Pradesh Assembly sessions for the past eight months, former Chief Minister YS Jagan finally participated in the session today, albeit reluctantly. He stayed in the Assembly for barely 10 minutes before announcing that he was boycotting the session, as the government had not been considerate about granting him the opposition leader status.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that the only reason Jagan attended the Assembly session today was to file his attendance and ensure his presence was recorded. This aligns with a recent statement by Deputy Speaker, Raghu Rama Krishna Raju, who mentioned that Jagan could face disqualification if he does not attend Assembly sessions for 60 consecutive days.

In this context, Jagan’s visit to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for around 10 minutes today is being seen as an attempt to file his attendance and have it recorded to avoid a possible disqualification.

However, the latest reports are suggesting that the Assembly officials might not even validate the attendance filed by Jagan today. Apparently, today’s session was just a formal one and not an official log into the full-time session.

The session held today was a preliminary program for the upcoming budget sessions, which are starting tomorrow, February 25. In that case, this session might not be entered into the official records, which would mean Jagan’s attendance could be invalidated.

This report is being carried by Telugu TV channels now, and it remains to be seen whether the Assembly officials will act on this and invalidate the attendance filed by Jagan today. If they do, he will again be at risk of disqualification due to insufficient official attendance.
