While all of Andhra Pradesh is focused on the Assembly session that was held today, something rather unexpected and consequential has happened in the internal ranks of the Telugu Desam party. TDP’s official spokesperson and newly appointed Chairman of the AP Fibernet corporation, GV Reddy has announced that he is quitting TDP and resigning his official position.
Reddy wrote a letter addressed to the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu, and stated that he is quitting the party and the Fibernet chairman position due to personal reasons.
This resignation comes shortly after GV Reddy recently complained about the lack of compliance of Fibernet MD, IAS officer Dinesh Kumar who openly dissented the chairman’s order and stalled the termination orders addressed to three employees. Reddy was vexed by this and met the CM on this matter.
However, Chandrababu, who is historically a man of the bureaucracy, asked Reddy to solve the issue amicably and coordinate with the concerned minister and IAS officer. This inconclusive action from the CM and his characteristic leniency towards the bureaucrats appears to have triggered GV Reddy who announced his resignation today.
It must be noted that Reddy is one of the favourite leaders for the hardworking Telugu Desam cadres. In fact, he was the one who exposed the YCP government on the abnormal loans and financial mismanagement. He is one of the most loved intellectuals in the party and a fan favourite leader internally. Now, his resignation must come as a rude shock to everyone.
However, it can also be noted that Chandrababu personally appreciated Reddy for his consistent efforts for the party and official position in their meeting a couple of days ago. So we can expect the chief minister to negotiate further with Reddy now to try and find an amicable solution to this issue.
