One of the harshest critics of Chandrababu Naidu was Somu Veerraju, the former BJP AP state president. With Somu Veerraju being nominated as the MLC candidate from the TDP-BJP-Janasena combine, reports surfaced that Somu was Naidu’s hater. There was propaganda that Somu shared a good bond with YS Jagan.
Responding to these claims and allegations, Somu Veerraju made it clear that he has no “secret friendship” or “pact” with former CM Jagan. He stressed that he knew Jagan Mohan Reddy only after he became the Chief Minister and had not known him before that. Somu also said that it was not correct to project him as Chandrababu Naidu’s hater or critic and that he had only differed with him earlier on some issues. Somu Veerraju said he was never against Amaravati as the capital.
Commenting on reports that Somu Veerraju would be made a minister in Chandrababu Naidu’s cabinet from BJP, he quashed them as just rumors. He also confirmed that he was offered a ministry earlier by Chandrababu Naidu during his previous tenure as CM from 2014 to 2019.
On a concluding note, Somu Veerraju said his bond with Chandrababu would remain the same as the equation between Chandrababu Naidu and PM Narendra Modi. While BJP nominated Somu Veerraju and Janasena nominated Nagababu for MLCs, TDP fielded Beeda Ravichandra, BT Naidu, and Kavali Greeshma.
