Bigg Boss Telugu Season 1 contestant and TV host Kathi Karthika, who had tested her luck in Dubbaka by election, suffered a major setback. Bigg Boss fame Karthika failed to even get deposit votes in the battle which was dominated by BJP, TRS and Congress. Karthika had contested in Dubbaka from All India Forward Bloc (AIFB), a left-wing nationalist political party which has strength in West Bengal.
Despite contesting from a left-wing party and having her own individual image, Karthika failed to show any impact. Karthika got less than 1000 votes much to everyone’s shock. Karthika got 636 votes including 15 postal votes. Whereas NOTA got 554 votes. It is buzzed in social media that Karthika polled less votes than the votes she had bagged in Bigg Boss show.
Even independent candidates secured more votes than Karthika. Independent Bangaru Nagaraju secured 3570 votes including 60 postal votes. BJP”s Raghunandan Rao polled 63,352 votes (38.47 percent), TRS candidate S Sujatha got 62,273 votes (37.82 percent), Congress candidate Cheruku Srinivas Reddy garnered 22,196 votes (13.48 percent). TRS was defeated by BJP by a tender margin of 1118 votes.
