For the past few months, the YSR Congress ecosystem has been making a meal of the discontinued volunteer system. They alleged that the NDA government went back on its word of continuing the volunteer system originally designed by Jagan Mohan Reddy.
While there has been a lot of confusion about this volunteer system, the government has now finally clarified this matter in the Assembly today.
Minister Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy clarified that the volunteer system virtually does not exist in Andhra Pradesh. He also explained the timeline of the volunteer mechanism and presented the hard facts related to the same.
The minister revealed that the previous YSR Congress government had itself discontinued the volunteer program in August 2023. He noted that the previous Jagan government had not issued any new government order to continue the volunteer services after August 2023.
“The previous government itself had discontinued the volunteer system. They did not issue any GO in this regard after August 2023. Had there been regularization and authorization of this system, we could have nurtured and developed it now. But there’s nothing like that,” the minister clarified.
This official clarification in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly invalidates the argument made by the YCP now about the NDA government discontinuing the volunteer program. It has been exposed that the YCP government itself did not continue the program when they were in power. In that case, there is no moral ground to cry foul on the NDA government now.
