In Bihar Assembly elections, the Congress is the biggest loser with the party candidates being defeated in 51 out of the 70 seats it contested but this fails to stop the party president Rahul Gandhi from going on a 2-day vacation.
Rahul, along with 10 of his friends, is going to Jaisalmer to have some fun. Rahul had already asked the local leaders to make the necessary arrangements.
The AICC leader and his friends are expected to stay at Suryagarh Fort for a day and then take a halt in a tent at the Rajasthan desert on the second day.
Rahul and team are learnt to have left to Jaisalmer in a private flight on Wednesday morning. However, the itinerary of the vacation is being kept as a strong secret.
The Congress ally, the RJD, under the leadership of Tejaswhi Yadav, put up a strong fight but eventually fell short of the numbers. However, with 75 seats, the RJD emerged as the single-largest party in the state.
Meanwhile, the BJP won 74 seats to emerge as the senior member in its alliance with Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), which won just 43.
After weeks of gruelling campaigning, three phases of voting, over 15 hours of counting, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was announced as winner of the Bihar election in the early hours of Wednesday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rallies have helped the NDA move past the majority mark of 122 in the 243-member Assembly.
The opposition, led by the RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, put up a strong fight but eventually fell short.
The Left parties too made an impressive performance. However, the NDA came out successful in what turned out to be a close fight.
