At an anti-delimitation conference in Chennai, key political parties from South India came together to oppose any changes in constituency boundaries for the next decade. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin chaired the meeting. The Chief Ministers of Telangana, Kerala, the deputy CM of Karnataka, many opposition leaders, and others took part in the meeting.
Altogether, everyone expressed concerns that a population-based delimitation would be unfair to the South and formed a Joint Action Committee (JAC) to fight for their rights. A resolution was collectively passed to delay the delimitation process for at least six months, arguing that it could encourage population growth.
Seven resolutions were passed during the meeting, focusing on a fair approach to delimitation and opposing any increase in Lok Sabha seats. As Stalin took the initiative to bring leaders together, speculation is that he might lead the JAC.
On the other hand, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy offered to conduct their next meeting in Hyderabad.
