Published by

It is an under understood predicament that the Telugu Desam party holds substantial power in the parliament, considering that it is a crucial part of the NDA alliance with 17 MPs to its name. So the NDA needs the absolute support of Telugu Desam for every bill that is passed in the Parliament.

In this context, a huge bill is set to come in front of the parliament tomorrow, April 2 and TDP has issued a whip to its MPs beforehand.

Going into the story, the NDA government is going to present the much debated and politically significant Waqf bill in the parliament tomorrow. For this bill to be passed, TDP needs to announce absolute support with all its MPs. In accordance, the party has issued a whip to all of its MPs to attend the Parliament tomorrow without fail.

Telugu Desam has already communicated that they will be outrightly supporting this bill in the Parliament and this will be put to order tomorrow with the voting of the MPs in favour of the same.

Coming to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill – it seeks to reform Waqf property management in India. It removes the ‘Waqf by User’ provision, requiring formal documentation for properties to be considered Waqf. The bill aims to improve transparency, mandates women’s inclusion in Waqf Boards, and shifts certain governance powers to state governments.

Supporters say it modernizes Waqf administration, while critics fear it could affect undocumented Waqf properties and reduce autonomy. The bill is set for discussion in the Lok Sabha on April 2, 2025, and, if passed, could significantly impact the governance and utilization of Waqf assets.

While YSR Congress has already announced that it will be opposing the bill in the parliament, they all important Telugu Desam will be in approval of the same.
