Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan’s brother, Konidela Naga Babu, took the oath as a member of the Legislative Council on Wednesday. He took the oath in the presence of Legislative Council Chairman Moshen Raju at the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly complex in Amaravati. With this, Naga Babu has completed the final formalities to enter the Legislative Council as an MLC.
It is well-known that Naga Babu recently secured a ticket as an MLC through the MLA quota. In this election, Naga Babu was elected unopposed as an MLC and took his oath on Wednesday.
Recently, five MLC seats through the MLA quota became available, and all these seats were claimed by alliance parties. The TDP, secured three seats, while its allies BJP and Janasena got one seat each. Naga Babu was chosen by Janasena and Somu Veerraju by BJP, while TDP nominated Kavali Greeshma, B.T. Naidu, and Beda Ravichandra. Due to a lack of sufficient numbers, YSR Congress did not participate in this election, and all the chosen members were elected unopposed. On Wednesday, Naga Babu and the other elected members took their oaths as MLCs.
Despite the situation of the other members, after Naga Babu was made an MLC, TDP chief and AP CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu had already proposed that he be inducted into the Cabinet. Now, with Naga Babu’s election as MLC and taking the oath as a member of the Legislative Council, the only thing remaining is his inclusion in the Cabinet. There is ongoing discussion in Janasena about when this will happen. Until recently, Naga Babu hadn’t even entered the Council, so there wasn’t much room for discussion. However, with his oath now completed, discussions about when he will take over his Cabinet duties have started.
