Telangana Replaces Dharani With Bhu Bharathi

In a landmark move, the Telangana government officially launched the Telangana Bhu Bharati (Record of Rights in Land) Act, 2024 yesterday. Telangana CM Revanth Reddy inaugurated the Bhu Bharati portal and it replaces the controversial Dharani portal to manage the official integrated land records.

Revanth Reddy believed that a user-friendly and future-ready portal is the need of the hour, and he thinks the Bhu Bharati system could serve the state effectively for the next 100 years. Stressing the importance of cybersecurity, he instructed officials to incorporate strong firewalls and assign portal maintenance to a credible organization to safeguard the digital infrastructure from cyberattacks.

Initially, Bhu Bharati will be rolled out in four mandals — Thirumalagiri (Nalgonda), Sadasivapet (Medak), and Keesara (Rangareddy) and one in Khammam district — before it is extended across the state in phases, with full implementation targeted by Telangana Formation Day on June 2.

The portal will provide an array of services including land registrations, mutations, appeals, revisions, ROR (Record of Rights) corrections, conversion of agricultural to non-agricultural land, and more. Users can also access details on e-challans, encumbrances, prohibited lands, market value assessments, and registered documents.
