Former YSRCP leader and ex-Rajya Sabha MP V. Vijay Sai Reddy has received official notices from SIT that is currently probing the liquor scam that allegedly took place during the YSRCP rule.
The notice, sent via email and WhatsApp, asks him to appear for questioning on April 18 at the SIT office located at the Vijayawada Police Commissionerate. Along with attending the inquiry, he has been asked to bring any documents or evidence he might have related to the case.
This is the first time Vijay Sai Reddy has been issued a notice in connection with the liquor scam, though he had previously faced questioning by the AP CID in a different case. Currently, he is said to be busy with operations related to his own media channel in Bengaluru.
The liquor scam allegedly involved fake liquor brands being produced and sold at high prices to the public during the YSRCP government’s time, generating huge illegal profits. The current alliance government formed a Special Investigation Team to look into the issue.
The SIT has already served notices multiple times to Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy, who is considered one of the main masterminds behind the scam. Despite being called for questioning three times, he has avoided appearing so far. The SIT also recently raided his houses in Jubilee Hills and Rayadurgam, seizing several important documents.
Now, with Vijay Sai Reddy also coming under the scanner, officials claim that his relatives may have played a role in the liquor scam as well. How much he cooperates with the SIT remains to be seen.
