Chief minister, Chandrababu Naidu is fully committed to making Amaravati a true global city while it primarily operates as the capital of Andhra Pradesh. It appears that he is working out a clear strategy to bring this global status to the city now.
The latest developments are suggesting that the proposed cricket Stadium in Amravati that is going to start construction soon will have a whole lot of promise.
Reportedly the BCCI will be covering 60% of the construction cost of this stadium in Amaravati. The Andhra Pradesh government must cover the rest of the 40% of the cost and also accommodate the land allocation for the same.
The principal understanding is that the BCCI will be hosting not less than 10 international games per year in this iconic Stadium. On top of that, this is going to be the biggest cricket stadium in all of India with a city capacity of 1.32 lakh.
Having the biggest cricket stadium in India at Amaravati and also having more than 10 international cricket games per year would directly generate a lot of revenue. And more importantly, it will obviously bring a lot of brand value to the city as a whole.
Working out this deal with the BCCI will require Chandrababu mark masterclass and it has to be seen if the veteran chief minister can make it happen. It can be noted that Lokesh was successful in mediating with ICC president Jay Shah and bringing IPL to Vizag this year. But the Amaravati Stadium project is much bigger in volume and it would take a lot of ground work.
