The BJP is not wasting any time despite being on a winning streak. It is chalking out strategies to emerge victorious in the 2024 general elections. As part of it, BJP national president J.P. Nadda is planning to take up a nation-wide yatra ‘Rashtriya Vistrut Pravas’ which would continue for 100 days.
It is learnt that other details like the number of days the yatra would stay in a particular state have also been readied. The yatra would focus on states and constituencies where the BJP suffered a defeat in the 2019 elections. The ground realities and social equations in these constituencies would be analysed and Nadda would speak to the MLAs, elected representatives of the local bodies and other prominent persons there to understand the hold of the party there.
He would discuss about strengthening and expansion of the party, possible alliances to gain more seats and identify those who can influence people’s opinion. The party state units would explain him about the various programmes they had already taken up for strengthening the party and brief him about other required action to bring in more vigour into the party.
Basing on all these, Nadda would chalk out an action plan and guide the party cadre on the future course of action.
However, with the threat of the pandemic still looming large, all necessary protocols to prevent contracting Covid will also be followed during the yatra. It will be ensured that not more than 200 party leaders would be present in the hall where Nadda would hold meetings. “Temperature measuring equipment, sanitisers, masks and other necessary things to check the spread of Coronavirus would be arranged at the meeting halls. Boquets and shawls would not be accepted. All precautions would be taken up in every aspect,” said the party leaders.
The party leadership has divided the entire nation into A,B,C and D groups to make things easy for Nadda.
Group A would include all BJP-ruled states or those wherein the party is enjoying power by virtue of coalition with other parties.
Group B will include those states where the BJP is not in the ruling like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and others.
Group C will include all the smaller states like Lakshadweep, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Group D will include those states which are heading for Assembly elections like Kerala, Assam, Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu.
In all the C-category states, Nadda would make a stay for two days which means he will take time to understand the ground realities and assess the situation.
The dates when the yatra would be launched is yet to be announced. Let us hope all this exercise will bear some fruit for the BJP in the next general elections.
