The Pedalandariki Illu scheme has been facing a lot of trouble since the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy planned to do so. Time and again, he had fixed dates for the distribution but every time, he had been facing some hurdle.
Now, the YCP government has decided a fresh date to distribute house sites to the poor, December 25.
Jagan has decided to distribute the house sites in all places identified except in those areas facing legal hurdles. He directed the collectors of respective districts to arrange for the programme, during a video conference.
The YCP government has decided to distribute house sites after issuing
D-forms. On the same day, construction of houses would also be started.
In the first phase, around 15 lakh houses would be constructed and the CM had issued orders to this effect to the officials. The state government had already identified 30,68,281 beneficiaries in the state who are eligible to take the house sites.
The High Court had already directed YCP government not to give house sites to the poor in lands where government schools, colleges and universities were located.
Let us hope Jagan’s dream to distribute house sites to the poor will become a reality at least on Christmas Day.
