When it comes to cinema, Pawan might be a superstar and his fans may revere him as the “Power Star”, however, when it comes to politics, Pawan Kalyan is arguably the “Most Confused Politician” in Telugu states. His political decisions and retractions often cause a lot of confusion among the parties. Pawan’s decision to first contest the GHMC elections and soon withdraw the decision is one among the many.
Ever since Dubbaka result came in favour of BJP, there has been a talk that Pawan would support BJP in the coming GHMC elections. However, taking everyone by shock, Pawan’s Janasena Party announced that it would field its candidates in all 150 wards. Later, Pawan tried to strike an alliance with BJP locally. He tried to reach out to BJP leaders.
Pawan’s desperation to have alliance with the BJP in the GHMC polls turned out to be a failure as the Telangana BJP unit refused to have any alliance and announced that they would contest all the seats alone. After a lot of deliberation, Pawan decided to opt out of the GHMC contest. He announced his party’s support to the BJP. Pawan asked Janasena leaders in Hyderabad to lend their outright support to the BJP. He asked the leaders to fully cooperate to the Lotus Party so that BJP wouldn’t lose a single seat.
These back and forth decisions often create a lot of dilemma and confusion among leaders and party workers. Now, Janasena leaders who wished to contest in the GHMC polls left disappointed as the party withdrew from the race. Didn’t Pawan know first hand that if Janasena contests all 150 divisions in GHMC, his party’s vote share would split BJP’s votes and would benefit TRS? If he knows, why has his party decided to contest in the GHMC alone? And again why has he tried for alliance with BJP? And finally, why is he supporting BJP and withdrawing from the contest? Earlier when BJP had reached out to Pawan to campaign for the party in Dubbaka, Pawan had refused to do so. And after Dubbaka’s result came in favour of BJP, Pawan seems to have felt it as a “lost opportunity”. In AP too, it is not clear whether Janasena would field its candidate in Tirupati Lok Sabha by-election or it would back BJP’s candidate.
This is not the first instance though. There were several such back and forth political decisions from Pawan before as well. During the 2019 general elections, Pawan had made it clear that he would never return to acting. He said he had given up acting and films for people. Pawan had also said that he would only return to films when he had no role to play in politics i.e when Jagan’s governance is good. Later, Pawan took a complete u-turn claiming that he returned to films for his expenses. So on and so forth, Pawan took several decisions and never stuck to them. All these make him the “Most Confused Politician”. Let’s hope that Pawan would overcome this and prove himself as a good leader.
