Senior Congress leader Jana Reddy has been in the party for nearly four decades. In fact he is the most senior leader among the Telangana Congress currently and if Congress had won the Assembly elections either in 2014 or 2018, he would have been the CM. But in 2018, Jana Reddy faced a defeat for the first time and currently he is not active in politics.
Now Jana Reddy is said to be eyeing a comeback but not with Congress, instead with BJP. With victory in Dubbaka by-poll and big gain in GHMC, Telangana BJP is riding high and wants to score a hat-trick with Nagarjuna Sagar by-election.
Apparently with the passing away of TRS MLA Nomula Narasimhaiah, the by-election turns inevitable at Nagarjuna sagar and the BJP has immediately contacted Jana Reddy. The Central leadership of BJP has held talks with him and assured him a good position in the party, if he takes up the saffron flag. The Congress leader is said to have responded positively to BJP’s call. We hear that Jana Reddy is not interested to contest but asked for a ticket for his son Raghuveer.
If sources are to be believed Jana Reddy is likely to join BJP on December 7th in New Delhi. This will be a huge boost for the BJP and for sure the by-election will be another tough battle between BJP and TRS.
Meanwhile TRS is considering to give the by-poll ticket to Nomula’s son Bhagath.
