YCP firebrand leader Roja drew the attention of netizens by doing something different. On the occasion of the birthday of her party president and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday, the APIIC chairman and Nagari MLA adopted an orphan and netizens hailed her for the act. Roja said that it was her gift to Jagan, whom she admires.
Taking a cue from the YCP government’s novel welfare programme, Amma Vodi, wherein poor parents are being provided financial help to get their children educated, the MLA adopted P. Pushpa Kumari, an inmate of Home for Girls in Tirupati after her parents expired. The Home is being run by Child Welfare Committee. Kumari completed her Intermediate and is qualified in NEET. However, she could not pursue medicine due to financial difficulties.
The Girls Home officials approached many sponsors, including the trust run by the MLA, seeking financial help for Pushpa.
To the pleasant surprise of the girl, on Sunday, Roja visited the Home, spoke to the girl and expressed readiness to bear all the expenditure till Pushpa completed her medicine. Roja also said that she would bear the expenses for her higher education. Pushpa thanked the MLA for her benevolence and vowed to complete her medicine and serve the poor.
Roja said that education is the best gift any child could be given, adding that girl education would lead to a developed nation.
Meanwhile, all the higher officials in the government and the Chief Minister’s well-wishers also greeted Jagan on the occasion. They hoped that the YCP government should implement more and more welfare programmes that would benefit the poor and the needy.
Team Gulte too wishes Jagan on his birthday. Hope he celebrates many more such days.
