Historic: First Woman Chief Justice Of Telangana

In a historic moment, Justice Hima Kohli has sworn in as the first woman Chief Justice of Telangana High Court. Justice Kohli, who served as a senior judge at the Delhi High court till recently, has been promoted as the Chief Justice of Telangana.

Telangana state Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, who also happens to be the First Woman to hold Governor Office in Telangana, has administered the oath of office to Justice Hima Kohli at Raj Bhavan. CM KCR, ministers and High Court judges, senior state officials and other dignitaries have witnessed this historic moment. CM KCR welcomed Hima Kohli and presented her with a bouquet.

Justice Hima Kohli replaced Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan who assumed the charge as the permanent Chief Justice of Telangana High Court on June 23, 2019. The combined High Court of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana was separated on January 1, 2019. Justice TBN Radhakrishnan served as the first Chief Justice of the Telangana high court. However, he was transferred to Calcutta high court within a few months. He was succeeded by Justice Chauhan.
