Bird flu Hits Telangana?

The Bird-Flu is creating havoc in Kerala, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab states. Nearly 25,000 birds have died so far and the Centre has put the respective state governments on high alert. There is also a panic among other states especially on the poultry industry which would be the first victim of bird flu.

Amidst this there are a couple of incidents of birds dying. In Warangal Urban and Peddapalli incidents, birds are found dead under mysterious circumstances. About 120 chickens have died in Bheemadevarapalli of Warangal district. People are in panic that the bird flu has reached their places. However, the officials have not declared anything as such and they are investigating how the birds have succumbed. They have collected the samples of the dead birds and sent them to Hyderabad lab for confirmation.

On Thursday Telangana animal husbandry minister Talasani called on the media and assured that there is nothing to panic but the situation doesn’t look familiar.

Meanwhile in the Telugu states, the wholesale chicken prices have dropped due to the bird flu impact. Until the other day, kilo chicken would cost nearly Rs 280 and now the price is at Rs 160.
