YSR Congress MP Vijayasai Reddy took potshots at former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu and wondered what prevented him from travelling to Vizag in a car.
In the wake of the Covid-19 lockdown, Naidu sought permission of the aviation authorities to fly to Vizag to console the victims of LG Polymers gas tragedy that occurred in the wee hours of May 7, 2020, which claimed the lives of 11 people. Several others were hospitalised and thousands of others fainted on the roads trying to escape from the toxic fumes that caused breathing problems.
In a tweet on Saturday morning, Vijayasai Reddy said, “Senior Naidu and Junior Naidu, father-son duo belonging to AP, lost way and got stranded in Hyderabad. Send them back to our state in a van. Why are you insisting that you would fly to Vizag. Even in a car, it takes just 6-7 hours to reach the port city.” In the face of it, Vijayasai Reddy’s remark seems to be a valid point.
Naidu had asked the authorities to be allowed to fly to Vizag but was not granted permission right on the day the mishap occurred. In the wake of this development, YSRC leader Vijayasai Reddy questioned Naidu who was stopping him from travelling on road to Vizag.
Considering the age of the TD supremo, it is likely that he could have been advised not to travel for long hours which could have prevented him from travelling on road to Vizag.
