AP State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is moving swiftly with the Supreme Court of India giving its green signal for Panchayat elections. However, Nimmagadda is facing trouble from state government employees as they are refusing to cooperate and take part in the poll process.
Despite this Nimmagadda wants to go ahead with the elections with minor changes to the previously announced schedule. As per the fresh schedule, the Panchayat polls in AP will be held on February 9, 13, 17, 21. Nominations for the first phase will be accepted from Jan 29th.
Accordingly Nimmagadda has written to the Union Home Ministry secretary and sought the support of the central government employees.
In the letter to Union Home Ministry, Nimmagadda requested to allot employees who fall under the union government radar and also cited the Supreme Court’s Monday ruling to hold the elections.
Earlier in the day the Supreme Court made serious comments on employees for acting anti-constitutional.
