Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold a meeting with the chief ministers of all the states in the country at 3 pm today. This is the fifth time he is holding a video conference with the CMs since Lockdown 1.0 was declared on March 25. The Lockdown 3.0 is nearing to end on May 17 as announced by the PM. However, in the wake of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases, the public are anxious if there would be Lockdown 4.0.
According to sources, a decision on whether to continue the lockdown or ease some restrictions would be taken only after the conference with the CMs. Monday’s online meeting holds significance as it will help the Centre chalk out an action plan basing on the feedback from the chief ministers. People are waiting to see what their elected representatives would tell Modi.
In the wake of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases, Central teams are already visiting the districts where the condition is alarming and making suggestions to the government officials there and at the same time, also informing about the situation to the Centre. The suggestions of these Central teams will also be taken into consideration to decide on the road ahead.
It is also being speculated that woes of migrant workers and people being brought back from foreign countries will be crucial issues to be discussed at tomorrow’s meeting.
