Prime Minister Narendra Modi got emotional and was almost in tears while addressing the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. Going into details, senior most Congress leader Gulam Nabi Azad’s tenure in the Upper house is set to come to an end on February 15th and so the house has bid a farewell to the veteran politician.
When it was the turn of PM Modi, he was in all praise of the Congress leader and surprisingly he almost cried. “I have known Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad for years. We were Chief Ministers together. We had interacted even before I became Chief Minister, when Azad Sahab was very much in active politics,” said Modi.
Adding the PM stated the person who will replace Azad as the Leader of Opposition will have difficulty matching his work. He always speaks decently and never uses foul language at other politicians or on faults. We should learn this from him, I respect him for it.
Recalling the incident of terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir, Modi added “When I was the CM of Gujarat and he was for J&K. I contacted him on saving people’s live and he was following the events every minute and was updating me. His raised above politics and proved that country first. Even during the lockdown time, it was Azad’s idea to hold an all party meeting when in crisis.”
That’s surprising and rare from Narendra Modi to give credit and fighting tears for a Congress leader.
