Active coronavirus cases have hit the first-ever plateau in India, While countries like Spain, New Zealand, and the UK witnessed the emergence of newer variants and mutants of the virus, India is seeing a drastic decline in the cases. Seven states and UTs have reported zero new COVID-19 deaths in the last three weeks.
And, 15 states have reported zero deaths due to the virus in the past 24 hours. New cases and casualties are reducing and the pandemic shows signs of receding in India, with deaths per-day remain below the 100-mark.
However, the last national serosurvey findings have shown that over 70 per cent of the population is still susceptible to the virus. Eleven states and Union Territories — Bihar, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Mizoram, Uttar Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Kerala– have vaccinated more than 65% of the registered healthcare workers,
The seven states and UTs — Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Mizoram, Nagaland and Lakshadweep — have reported no new COVID-19 deaths in the last three weeks, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said. India was the fastest country to reach 6 million vaccination doses of COVID-19 in just 24 days.
