GHMC Mayor: PJR’s daughter Upset

It’s official now that Gadwala Vijaya Laxmi is the new Greater Hyderabad Mayor. After the newly elected corporators took oath, the Mayor selection was held. MIM which maintained a silence all these days, supported the TRS party candidates for the Mayor seat. TRS bagged the Mayor seat without ex-offio members.

Finally Vijaya Laxmi took charge as Mayor while Mothe Srilatha has been elected as deputy Mayor. Mayor Vijaya Laxmi represents Banjara Hills division and she is the daughter of TRS Rajya Sabha MP K Keshav Rao. She was in USA for 18 years and returned to Hyderabad during the Telangana agitation.

However, some dramatic incidents took place during the Mayor elections. Late P Janardhan Reddy’s daughter Vijaya Reddy had expected either Mayor or deputy Mayor post. Learning that her name is in the secret envelope, Vijaya Reddy walked out after taking oath while PJR fans are deeply hurt and raised slogans on PJR’s name.

Immediately the TRS leadership stepped into the scene. Advisor to the TRS government and ex-MP B. Vinod has called on Vijaya Reddy and pacified her. Vinod assured that Vijaya Reddy will get the due recognition in party. Satisfied with Vinod’s assurance, Vijaya Reddy returned during the time of GHMC Mayor election.
