TDP Supporter Wins In Nani’s Native Village

Published by

YCP firebrand leader and civil supplies minister Kodali Nani was in for two shocks back-to back during the panchayat polls. State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar directed Nani not to address any press meets or groups till the polls were complete and even directed the officials to register cases against him.

Even before he could digest the news, he faced a bitter experience in his native village. TDP supported sarpanch candidate Kolluri Anusha won the elections with a majority of 800 votes in Yelamarru panchayat of Pamarru manal, Gudivada constituency in Krishna district. Of the 12 wards in the villages, 11 were won by TDP supporters. In the remaining one ward, the YCP supporter won with just one vote.

The TDP said that the villagers could not withstand the abusive words used by Nani against their party leaders in the village and taught the minister a lesson by defeating the candidate supported by the YCP. They suggested that Nani change his behaviour at least now.

In Nandivada mandal of Gudivada constituency, nine of the total 20 sarpanch posts were won by the TDP supporters. The TDP won in major panchayats of the mandal.

The same scene repeated in YCP senior leader and Rajya Sabha member Pilli Subash Chandra Bose native place too. TDP sympathiser Nagireddy Satish Rao won as the sarpanch of Hasanbada village in Ramachandrapuram constituency over the YCP candidate with a majority of 208 votes.

These victories in the native villages of two prominent YCP leaders buoyed the spirits of the TDP cadre and many of them took to social media to campaign about it and posted comments congratulating the winning candidates and at the same time, advising the YCP men to mend their ways.

The news also led to some discussion in political circles about why the YCP men were resorting to violence and intimidating rival candidates even while claiming that the numerous welfare schemes being implemented by the YCP government won the hearts of the public and the poor in particular.
