Groups politics are most common in Congress party and in BJP, it rarely happens. Some years back, the group politics rattled the Karnataka BJP and same scenes are repeating Uttarkhand too. CM Trivendra Singh Rawat has tendered his resignation.
For the past few months, many BJP leaders are upset with CM Rawat and recently nearly ten ministers and MLAs flew to New Delhi. They complained against CM Rawat to the BJP high command. After taking their opinion into consideration, BJP has sent two of its key leaders to meet CM Rawat. A state level core committee meeting was also held and then the report was sent to BJP Working President JP Nadda.
Accordingly CM Rawat flew to the national capital on Monday and returned immediately. At around 4 PM, CM Rawat met Governor Baby Rani Maurya and confirmed stepping down.
For the next CM, there are many names in consideration. The BJP MLAs will be meeting tomorrow at 10 AM and decide upon the CM candidate.
Group politics is something BJP doesn’t encourage at all and it doesn’t mind throwing leaders out of the party if they cross the line. But in this case, the wind was strongly against CM Rawat. However, the BJP high command handled it very maturely and made sure no disturbance in the party occurred simultaneously CM Rawat was also asked to not to create any controversies while stepping down.
