Panchayat raj minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy said that the TDP was being spared because it was Jagan Mohan Reddy who was at the helm of affairs. “If I would have been the CM, I would have emptied the entire party and left the party president and Opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu alone in it,” he mocked.
On the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, he questioned why Naidu and his party leaders were repeatedly asking the YCP leaders to resign. “It is very clear that we only would get voted to power. In the panchayat elections, the YCP won 82% of the sarpanch seats and in the urban local bodies too, the YCP will register victory in 90% of the seats,” he predicted and suggested that Naidu should stop raising such demands. He exuded confidence that the YCP would win all the 170 seats if polls were held now.
At the same time, he also questioned TDP state unit leader Atchannaidu on why their party could not win maximum number of seats in the panchayat elections.
“Naidu is getting frustrated as he is in a helpless state and rubbing his anguish on us,” the minister said.
“Will the privatisation of VSP be stalled if elected representatives resign,” he asked.
Responding to these remarks, the TDP leaders said that it was unbecoming of Peddireddy to make such comments. The minister sounded as though he is a man without any ethics by saying that he would empty the entire party. Without an opposition party, can the system be called a democracy, the TDP leaders asked.
