Victory in the Tadipatri municipality has brought relief to the TDP which is facing its worst crisis ever. The TDP won from the municipality where the JC brothers have a stronghold. Of the total 36 wards, the TDP won in 18 wards while the YCP too put up a good show winning 16 wards and the remaining were won by two others.
In fact, it was a tough fight for both the YCP and TDP which moved neck-to-neck leaving behind the BJP-Jana Sena alliance and Congress parties without any seats. There is talk that the TDP could win the Tadipatri municipality just because of the JC brothers, their native constituency.
TDP senior leader and former MLA JC Prabhakar Reddy has won from the 24th ward of Tadipatri municipality. He won with 304-vote majority on his nearest YCP rival candidate. His victory brought some relief to the TDP.
In the past, Prabhakar Reddy had been the Tadipatri municipal chairman. In 2014, he won as the MLA from Tadipatri Assembly constituency. However, in 2019, he stayed away from elections and fielded his son Asmith Reddy from the constituency but the latter was defeated by YCP candidate Kethireddy Peddareddy.
In Mydukur of Kadapa district too, the TDP won the majority. Of the total 24 wards, the TDP registered victory in 12, YCP in 11 and Jana Sena in 1 ward.
After emerging victorious from both the municipalities, the TDP is now focusing on the election of chairperson. The major political parties have reportedly started off with their camp politics. It is learnt that the TDP, YCP and Jana Sena had already shifted their candidates to secret places to prevent them from being poached by their rivals.
Thought it was the TDP which has been declared as the winner from both these two urban local bodies, the YCP too put up a strong fight to make the scales tilt towards its side.
