Beleaguered actress Rhea Chakraborty, who was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) last year Sepetmber and was subsequently released on bail in October, is back in news. Now, the NCB has moved the Supreme Court, challenging the Bombay High Court’s decision of granting bail to Rhea.
A Supreme Court bench of Chief Justice Bobde and Justices V Rama Subrahmanian and AS Bopanna will hear the plea on the 18th of this month. NCB arrested Rhea, her brother Showik Chakraborty and drug-peddler Abdel Basit Parihar while investigating the case of illegal drug possession, in connection to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
While granting bail to Rhea Chakraborty. the high court had directed her to deposit their passports with the NCB. The court had also asked Rhea to deposit a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and directed her to visit the NCB office at 11 am on the first day of every month for a total of 6 months.
All those who have been granted bail, have to seek NCB’s permission in order to travel out of Mumbai. NCB also investigated other Bollywood celebrities like Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, Shraddha Kapoor, and Arjun Rampal, in connection with this drug-related case. We have to see what verdict will the Supreme Court give on the petition filed by the NCB.
