With the sudden surge in the number of Coronavirus cases, the Maharashtra government decided to impose a night curfew across the state. Maha government on Friday said the night curfew would be imposed from Sunday, March 28. The curfew prohibits gathering in public places but does not interrupt or restrict movement.
The CM Uddhav Thackeray met with district magistrates before taking the decision of night curfew. The CM instructed authorities to ‘strictly enforce’ the night curfew rules, as the transmission of Covid-19 reached new unwanted levels breaking all the previous cases record.
Maharashtra’s Covid cases slowly declined in the last four months until it has seen a spike in daily cases in the last few days. As per the state-wide curfew rules, all malls will be shut down at 8 pm and can be opened only at 7 am again.
The state recorded more than 36,000 new covid-19 cases in a day, on Thursday. This remains the highest single-day spike reported in any Indian state since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. Mumbai recorded more than 5500 cases, while the state has more than 1 lakh cases in the last four days.
