In a rare thing, the Telangana BJP has made a request to the TRS and the ruling party obliged for it. Going into details, BJP’s Akula Ramesh Goud who got elected as corporator from Lingojiguda division, passed away even before taking oath. So the by-election for this division is inevitable.
But the Telangana BJP wanted an unanimous election keeping the sympathy factor. Accordingly ex-MLC Ramchander Rao led a few BJP leaders met TRS working president KTR and requested him to withdraw his party’s candidate from the by-elections.
KTR had immediately dialed CM KCR and asked for his consent. KCR responded positively to BJP’s request and then TRS party has decided to withdraw its candidate. Taking a step further KTR called caretaker TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy and asked the Congress to not field any candidate from their party. Uttam replied that he would discuss the same within the Congress party and get back.
There are no interesting bits here. One is TRS accepting BJP’s request considering the verbal war they had in over the last six to eight months. Then KTR calling Congress party and asked them to withdraw from elections.
Also these days when an elected representative passes away, opposition parties are not showing any sympathy like before and so the by-election is becoming inevitable. Under these circumstances, BJP had dared to lay a step to seek an unanimous and surprisingly the TRS has accepted it. Is this the beginning of bonhomie between BJP and TRS?
By the way, the by-election for Lingojiguda is scheduled on April 30th and BJP has given a chance to deceased Ramesh Goud’s son Akhil.
