With the rampant increase in Covid-19 cases, India’s capital New Delhi has announced complete lockdown. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announced lockdown in the state nearly for a week. The lockdown comes into force from tonight 10pm and it is going to last till next Monday i.e April 26th morning 5am.
“If we do not put a lockdown in Delhi, our healthcare infrastructure will collapse. From tonight 10 pm to next Monday 5 am, for 6 days, there will be a lockdown in Delhi. All essentials services will be available,” said Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.
“The COVID19 situation in Delhi is grim. We have never lied to you. We have been transparent about the situation. We have been averaging 25,000 cases in the last 3-4 days. We are running out of ICU beds. Oxygen is in short supply,” added CM Kejriwal.
Stating that the people’s cooperation is important, Kejriwal thanked the people of Delhi for their co-operation to the government. He said, “People’s cooperation is required to fight this pandemic. The people of Delhi are like one big family. We have got all the cooperation from them.”
Meanwhile, CM Kejriwal has made an appeal to migrant workers to stay back in the national capital and assured them that it is a short lockdown. “I appeal to the migrant workers not to leave delhi…this is a small lockdown. please stay in Delhi i am hopeful that there will be no need to extend this lockdown,” said Arvind Kejriwal.
