In a shocking tragedy, as many as 22 Covid-19 patients died today in Maharashtra’s Nasik. According to reports, an oxygen tanker leaked outside a hospital in Maharashtra that resulted in disruption of oxygen supply for over 30 minutes. This accident resulted in the loss of lives of 22 Covid patients who were critical. The victims were being treated at the Zakir Hussain Municipal Hospital in Nashik and all of them were on ventilators who needed constant oxygen supply.
Massive oxygen has been leaked due to this. Visuals show oxygen gas leaked from the tankers rapidly and covered the surrounding areas in white fumes. The hospital is exclusively treating the Covid patients. About 150 patients were being treated. Some of them are on ventilators and some of them are oxygen-dependent. Soon after the tragedy, around 31 patients out of 80 who need oxygen have been shifted to other hospitals.
The Maharashtra state government expressed grief and shock over the incident. State Health Minister Rajesh Tope promised that the incident will be taken seriously and the government would conduct a thorough probe. “A detailed statement will be issued after the investigation is done,” said Health Minister Rajesh Tope.
