Just a day after AP CM YS Jagan announcing free Covid-19 vaccine to everyone aged between 18 years to 45 years, Telangana CM KCR too followed the suit. Short while ago the Telangana CMO announced that vaccine at free of cost would be provided to everyone who are above 18 years.
KCR is currently in home isolation as he was tested positive for Covid-19. Probably next week, KCR will be undergoing a test and based on his health status, he would be holding a meeting with the health minister and department officials to discuss the vaccine, administration drive and arrangements to be made.
It is estimated that a free Covid-19 vaccine would cost Rs 2500 crore to the state government’s treasury but this is a preliminary estimation and it would go up as the vaccine comes in two doses. It is unclear whether the TRS government would bear the cost of the first vaccine dose or both the doses.
KCR also assured that his government would ensure the supply of Remdesivir in the state and adequate measures are already underway to tackle if there is any shortage of supply.
