A young girl smiling in a cunning manner as a house burns down behind her, is one of the popular memes on social media. Now the young girl Zoe Roth, in the meme made $430K dollars with that photo.
Zoe Roth was four when her dad took the picture in January 2005 and entered it into JPG Magazine’s ‘Emotion Capture’ contest and then quickly became the favorite meme of many. Roth is now 21 and is a senior at the University of North Carolina. She recently sold an NFT (Non-fungible token) of her original image for $430,000.
An NFT is a certificate of ownership for a digital asset that is unique. Zoe and her dad did their research and found other viral meme subjects like ‘Overly Attached Girlfriend’ Liana Morris and Gawky school picture subject ‘Bad Luck Brian,’ aka Kyle Craven to know the fact about NFT. They hired a lawyer and a manager to help with the logistics.
Zoe and her dad listed the ‘Disaster Girl’ toke on April 16 for a 24-hour auction. She expected it to sell for 100 Ether (Crypto equal to $2200 per unit) but instead found its value more than $470,000.
