Amidst Covid-19 surge, Odisha state government has announced a complete lockdown in the state for 14 days. Starting from May 5th to May 19th, the state will be under full lockdown. CM Naveen Patnaik announced the lockdown after conducting a review meeting.
According to Odisha state health department’s statement on Sunday, the state recorded 10,413 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. With this, the Covid caseload touched 4,62,622 and 2068 fatalities. However, the state said that 3,91,048 have been recovered.
The other day, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has extended the lockdown in Delhi for a third week in a row with the massive surge in the national capital. Meanwhile, Karnataka is under lockdown. Tamil Nadu too is under lockdown with strict restrictions in place. Telugu states have only imposed the night curfew.
On Saturday, India recorded over 4 lakh cases. On Sunday, the country recorded 3.92 lakh fresh infections in 24 hours. The caseload thus surged to 1.95 Crore.
