Jagan Gave Chance To 2 More Reddys

Published by

The Andhra Pradesh government selected senior journalist Ulchala Hariprasad Reddy and advocate Kakarla Chenna Reddy as RTI commissioners.

A decision to this effect was taken by a committee, chaired by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, and it has been sent to the Governor for approval.

Hariprasad holds a master’s degree in history from the Central University, Hyderabad. He has been a journalist for the last 20 years.

Chenna Reddy holds a degree in law. He has been working as a lawyer in several district courts and also the high courts in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for the last 15 years.

The government’s decision drew flak from the opposition leaders and TDP sympathisers and they pointed out that Jagan elevated two more Reddys, the community to which he belongs. They had been charging the CM with filling his coterie only with people of his community.

Meanwhile, the CM and his supporters have been alleging that his predecessor and bête noire N. Chandrababu Naidu had done good only to the community to which he belongs and discriminating all other castes.

Political analysts opined that politics in Andhra Pradesh has been revolving around two major communities with one trying to dominate the other. The state will be able to witness real development if leaders can think beyond caste rivalry, recognise genuine talent and focus on administration that can give tangible results, they felt.
