2 Weeks Lockdown In Karnataka After Curfew Fails

After the partial lockdown and curfew failed in Karnataka to control Covid cases, the state CM Yeddyurappa ordered a complete lockdown for two weeks starting May 10. BS Yeddyurappa said the lockdown will be from 6 am on May 10 to 6 am on May 24.

Everything else except essential goods and services, shops that sell groceries remain closed. The grocery shops and essential services operate from 6 am to 6 pm. Also, road repair work and cargo vehicles are allowed to operate in complete lockdown.

Commercial units like pubs, bars, industries, hotels, and everything that is not directly related to providing essential services will have to close. Flights and trains that were already scheduled will operate during the lockdown. Metro rail won’t run and also the cabs that are not hired for an emergency will not be allowed on the roads. .Online learning continues and schools, colleges remain closed.

Karnataka has seen more than 49,000 new cases in the last 24 hours and more than 600 deaths were reported in the highest single-day deaths. Almost 40 percent of Bengaluru are infected with covid. The city itself reported more than 21,000 cases and around 340 deaths in the last 24 hours.
