Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy rarely airs his opinions on social media platforms and when he did it in one such instance, it kicked up a controversy and also degraded his image.
A tweet by Jagan on Prime Minister Narendra Modi has drawn the attention of netizens and became the most discussed in political circles. Prominent among those who raised their voice regarding the tweet was the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader and Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren tweeted that Jagan backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi only to avoid action that could be initiated in connection with the various cases filed against him. The JMM leader also said that the tweet reflected Jagan’s helplessness.
Three days ago, Modi had spoken to the chief ministers of five states on phone about the Covid crisis. After the meeting, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren took to Twitter and posted a tweet on Modi. The tweet read that “It would be better if Modi could try to listen to others instead of sermonising just as he does in ‘Mann ki Baat’ programme” which automatically makes any one understand that Modi told the CMs what he wanted to convey but did not hear to their concerns.
In fact, the response to this tweet should have been either from the Prime Minister himself or the PMO. If not, it can be from one of the Cabinet ministers or the BJP. Surprisingly, the tweet garnered a response from AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and it sounded as though he was supporting Modi. With the public already vexed with the PM for failing to check the spread of Covid, people from all sections of the pubic vented out all their anger online on Jagan.
Significant among the tweets was that by the JMM party which mocked at Jagan saying that they could understand the sensitive situation he was existing in and which conveyed of the uncertainty over the cancellation of Jagan’s bail and investigation into the various cases, which could lead to his imprisonment.
The entire episode reflects that Jagan was forced to support Modi for some serious reasons not known to the public.
