Hope Lockdown Will Not Be Extended Beyond Ten Days: Owaisi

Published by

There has been a criticism of the TRS government on the lockdown decision that it deliberately delayed the decision at the behest of MIM party and Ramzan festival. Now with the government announcing the lockdown for ten days, rumours have already started making noise that in case, if the case load doesn’t come down, the Telangana government might extend the lockdown all the way till month ending.

Amidst these rumours, MIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi made noteworthy comments. He hoped that the lockdown would not be extended beyond ten days. “Lockdowns cause severe loss of livelihood & put many at risk. Request @TelanganaCMO @KTRTRS to not forget Telangana’s poor & ensure that they receive maximum support from the govt for being forced to stay at home. Also hope that lockdown will not be extended beyond 10 days,” tweeted Owaisi.

The MIM leader objected to the Telangana High Court’s interference in the lockdown decision matters. Adding he wrote, “If need be, govt should seek recourse from the Apex Court @TelanganaCMO was on record assuring that there will be no lockdown. It’s concerning that, due to judicial overreach, govt had to walk back on this assurance. Courts interfering in health policy is a worrying sign. Constitutionally & practically, elected state governments are best placed to take these decisions.”

These comments show that Owaisi is strictly against lockdown and also the High Court’s intervention. After all it’s because of the High Court that the Telangana government is taking at least partial measures. Else the situation is worst in Telangana.
