May 11th Tuesday it was and until 3 PM, the wine shops were operating normally. In minutes the scenario changed. Hundreds of people reached the wine shops across Telangana and everyone purchased liquor that would be sufficient for the next ten days. This situation was witnessed after the Telangana government announced lockdown.
Right after the lockdown announcement Rs 56 crore worth liquor reached the stores from depots. As per the Excise department, the state has posted Rs 125 crore liquor sales on Tuesday which is said to be the biggest in May month.
From the first ten days of May month, Telangana Excise department posted Rs 676 crore of revenue which means it is roughly Rs 61 crore per day. But the 11th day posted double the sales.
