Addressing a press conference on Wednesday in Hyderabad, Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao exuded confidence while stating that Telangana’s situation of the second wave is comparatively better than other states with refractory cases. He also assured that the pandemic in the state is under control. He further spoke with profound poise that the Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan had also claimed that T’gana is one of the few to witness the curve going down gradually.
“Situation in Telangana is better compared to other states in terms of availability of beds and treatment. Lockdown also has been imposed, which would bring the situation in further control,” said Rama Rao. He said the government could avoid too many people getting hospitalized as they are pretty alert on providing kits as soon as the symptoms showed up. He said that the state government also focussed on increasing the beds and currently, there are over 54,000 beds available in the government and private hospitals.
Talking about medicines, KTR informed that 1.5 lakh Remdesivir injections were available with the government hospital and the task force could synchronize the Remdesivir manufacture companies for additional supply. Tocilizumab, a shot given in an emergency, is being constantly checked over in the hospitals to ensure sufficient stocks of it, he said.
He also brought the topic of the most-feared black fungus where the state government is gearing up the machinery to provide effective medicare for it. Black fungus is a rare but fatal infection that is increasing in covid survivors, especially in diabetic patients. The minister, who himself recovered from Covid, chaired the first meeting of the task force set up by Chief Minister KCR to ensure a smooth and adequate supply of oxygen and medicines used in Covid containment.
KTR further added that the 10-day lockdown will be highly beneficial to bring down the severity of Covid and urged people to cooperate with the government in eluding out of the crisis at the earliest. Lastly, the Minister said that an oxygen audit was also being done by the government. To avoid a shortage, they are also keeping a check on the abnormal use by the private hospitals. Telangana on Wednesday reported 4,723 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the tally to 5,11,711.
