Stage is all set for the induction of Telugu man and BJP’s senior leader GVL Narasimha Rao into PM Narendra Modi’s cabinet. According to reports, GVL is likely to get a berth in Modi’s cabinet which he is planning to expand soon.
GVL is Rajya Sabha MP representing the Uttar Pradesh state. He has worked for the party from longtime. He strongly defends the party as a national spokesperson. He is considered as Modi and Amit Shah’s team in the new BJP. Finally, Modi has decided to reward GVL’s services by taking him into the Union Cabinet. It can be noted that there has been no Telugu person in the Union Cabinet ever since Venkaiah Naidu was moved from Cabinet to the Vice-President.
Venkaiah’s elevation to Constitutional and non-political Vice President post is considered as a move to divert the Special Category Status demand of AP that was promised by the former PM Manmohan Singh and was demanded by then Opposition BJP leaders on the floor of the parliament. As Modi’s government is against the Special Category Status, it has been avoiding a Telugu man into cabinet as it would revoke the demand from Telugu people and its leaders.
GVL has been raising his strong voice against the Special Category Status to AP and made it clear that it is not possible given the prevailing condition and similar demands from other states. Since GVL is in line with Modi’s ideology on SCS, it is expected to be a smooth induction into cabinet. While FM Nirmala Sitharaman has Telugu connection, she is not a native of Telugu. She is from Tamil Nadu. But she is married to Telugu person Mr Parakala Prabhakar. Amidst this, GVL is likely to get into the Union Cabinet after Venkaiah Naidu.
GVL hails from Ballikurava in Prakasam district. He did Agricultural BSC from Bapatla Agricultural College and later did MBA from Institute of Rural Management, Gujarat.
