India, which is the second worst hit country in the world for the novel coronavirus, is now just the third country to report over 4 lakh deaths. In the last 24 hours, India has reported 853 deaths and this has made the total death tally go past 4 lakh. Currently the total death tally is 4,00,312.
USA and Brazil are placed before India with 6.2 and 5.2 lakh deaths respectively. But the death tally is as per the official figures of Union Health Ministry and unofficially lakhs of deaths have been unreported and several international media claimed the same.
46,617 new infections have been reported in the past 24 hours and the total active cases count is 5,09,637. India’s second wave impact has partially come down but the cases are still getting reported in a decent number for which the medical experts believe that this is mainly due to the Delta/Delta Plus variant.
India’s recovery rate is just over 97 percent which is remarkable and the daily positivity rate is 2.48 percent and it has been less than 5 percent for the past 25 days.
Overall, India is on the road to recovery but being alert in the Delta strain is being warned by the experts.
