From the past few days, the water dispute between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has yet again heated up. Telangana raising objections over Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation project, AP upset with power being generated with the water resources at Srisailam, Nagarjunasagar and Pulichintala projects are the developments that took place.
Also the police deployment from either side at the projects are continuing. Tight security is placed and no unauthorised person is being allowed.
On Thursday AP YS Jagan wrote to Union Jal Shakti minister to intervene in the water dispute and sort out the differences amidst the rising tensions. AP government chief whip and APIIC chairman Roja has urged the Telangana government to stop the power generation at the above mentioned projects.
Roja recently recovered from surgery and to seek the blessings of Lord Venkateswara, she visited Tirumala. After her darshan, Roja spoke to the media and pleaded with the Telangana government with both hands to rethink the use of water resources.
“By generating electricity, there won’t be sufficient water for Rayalaseema, Nellore and Prakasham districts. This is a grave injustice to the women of AP who have toiled very hard in the past few years,” said Roja.
On Chandrababu’s fast unto protest, the Nagari MLA fired at the opposition leader. “It’s a laughable act that Chandrababu wants to sit on a protest. Being in power for five years, he could not resolve the water dispute while our CM Jagan is trying everything in his hands to bring a permanent solution to it. Jagan will not hesitate to take any drastic decision in the best interests of AP people,” said Roja.
