The chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy wrote a letter to union Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Shekhawat and environment minister Prakash Javadekar complaining about the government of Telangana.
In his letter, Jagan mentioned that the KCR-led government is misusing the waters in Srisailam, Sagar and Pulichintala projects for hydropower projects knowing full well that it is against the ordinance passed by Krishna River Management Board(KRMB).
Jagan added that the KRMB is not initiating any action against Telangana government despite multiple grievances from the government of Andhra Pradesh. “KRMB officials who are supposed to stay impartial are taking Telangana’s side in the whole water distribution fiasco,” Jagan wrote.
The YSRCP chief stated that the Telangana government is ramping up the illegal projects and demanded the centre’s intervention to solve the issue amicably.
The heated legal battle between the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is worsening by the day and it is high time that the central government takes up the mediator role before the situation gets out of hand.
