Renowned Tamil actor Suriya, along with his fellow Tamil actors and filmmakers has been openly opposing the centre’s cinematography act. He recently tweeted, “The law is to protect freedom of expression. Not to strangle its voice,” while referring to the newly proposed act.
It appears to be that Suriya’s comments have rubbed Tamil Nadu BJP leaders on the wrong side. Incidentally, TN BJP youth wing leaders gave Suriya a strong warning, asking him to refrain from speaking against the centre.
“Suriya should focus on his acting career and stop making a fuss about other things. If he intentionally keeps slinging mud at the centre he will have to face the legal consequences. He might have to go to court if doesn’t mend his ways soon,” read a statement from BJP youth wing, led by Vinod Selvam.
Suriya is yet to respond to BJP’s comments. On the career front, the veteran actor will next be seen in a social drama directed by TJ Gnanavel Raja. The film is tentatively titled Suriya39.
