Over 97% of ₹2,000 notes have been withdrawn from circulation in India, according to the RBI (Reserve Bank of India). However, there are still ₹7,581 crore worth of these notes with the public. The RBI says these notes are still legal tender, but encourages people to deposit them in banks by exchanging them for other denominations.
